The Vineyard

The Gateway to the Tamar Valley

Based at the entrance to the beautiful Tamar Valley in Northern Tasmania, The 0.9ha of cabernet sauvignon and 0.5ha of pinot noir of the Legana Vineyard were planted in 1966 by Graham Wiltshire - described as one of the three great pioneers of the Tasmanian wine industry. Originally named Chateau Legana, Velo is home to Tasmania’s oldest cabernet sauvignon wines. Varietals grown onsite, are pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, sauvignon blanc, riesling, pinot gris and chardonnay. We know you will enjoy sampling our impressive range of award winning wines along with our friendly service.

Velo Wines have won numerous awards and accolades across the range with our most recent successes being at the Tasmanian Wine Show 2019 where we picked up 4 bronze and 2 silver medals. The vineyard yields approximately 15 tonnes per year, allowing for seasonal variations with all 2020 vintage wines made onsite at our Legana Vineyard.
